We are pleased to announce that the Quantum Technology Club‘s amateur radio station will be making an appearance at Southport College’s technoJAM event on the 9th September. Using the club’s callsign, MX0ORM, the station will be transmitting during the day on 2m and various HF bands using voice and data modes.
Amateur radio is a really fun technical hobby that involves communicating with other licensed amateur radio operators right around the world, and even out in to space; most astronauts are licensed and will talk to earth stations in their free time. It’s also their back-up communications system in an emergency.
Visitors to the technoJAM will be able to have a go at communicating wirelessly using the station themselves and is just one of the many attractions to be found at the event.
More news on what activities will be at the event to follow.
